HP Pavilion 14-dv0598sa Laptop Review: Processor
The HP Pavilion 14-dv0598sa features an Intel Core i3-1115G4 processor. This mid-range processor is part of the 11th generation of Intel’s Core i3 processors and is capable of running everyday tasks such as web browsing and word processing, as well as light gaming.
The Intel Core i3-1115G4 processor has a base clock speed of 3.0GHz and can be increased up to 4.1GHz with Intel Turbo Boost technology. The dual-core processor also has 6MB cache and supports Intel Hyper-Threading, providing great multitasking capabilities. Overall, this processor is the perfect choice for a mid-range laptop as it provides great performance and power efficiency for everyday use.
HP Pavilion 14-dv0598sa Laptop Review: RAM
The HP Pavilion 14-dv0598sa comes with 8GB DDR4 RAM. This 8GB RAM is clocked at a speed of 3200MHz, which is capable of running everyday tasks such as web browsing, word processing, and even light gaming. However, you may see some reductions in performance if you tried all three at once.
DDR4 stands for Double Data Rate 4 and is the 4th generation of DDR memory technology. First introduced in 2014, it is currently the most popular type of memory used in computers. Its successor, DDR5, was released in 2020 and provides increased performance and efficiency over DDR4, however it is noticeably more expensive. For a budget laptop like this HP Pavilion 14-dv0598sa, 8GB DDR4 RAM is a great choice and shouldn’t hold you back.
HP Pavilion 14-dv0598sa Laptop Review: Storage & Battery Life
This HP Pavilion 14-dv0598sa comes with a 256GB Solid State Drive (SSD). This is one of two common storage devices that are used in laptops and computers, the other being a Hard Disk Drive (HDD). SSDs are faster and more efficient than HDDs, but they are usually more expensive. SSDs are also more reliable and durable than HDDs as they have no moving parts and are more resistant to physical damage, making them less prone to data loss due to mechanical failures.
A 256GB SSD is a good storage size for most users. It provides enough storage for a range of applications, files, documents, photos, and music, as well as offering increased speeds over a HDD.

The HP Pavilion 14-dv0598sa has a battery life of up to 9 hours. If you only intend to use this laptop for basic everyday tasks such as web browsing and word processing, then its battery life won’t be much of an issue. However, this may become an issue if you intend to use the HP Pavilion 14-dv0598sa for extended periods of time. With that being said, up to 9 hours of battery life for a mid-range laptop is what you would expect for a mid-range laptop.
HP Pavilion 14-dv0598sa Laptop Review: Ports & Software
The HP Pavilion 14-dv0598sa features a USB Type-C port, two USB 3.1 ports, one HDMI port, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. These are the most essential ports for a laptop, enabling you to plug in any device that you require. The addition of the HDMI cable also allows for a quick and easy connection to a TV or monitor. It should also be noted that this HP Pavilion 14-dv0598sa does not include a disk drive.

When it comes to software included with the HP Pavilion 14-dv0598sa, you get a 30-day free trial of Microsoft Office 365 and a 90-day free trial of McAfee LiveSafe. These free trial periods allow you to try out the software before committing yourself to paying for the full licence.
HP Pavilion 14-dv0598sa Laptop Review: Pricing
At the time of this review, the HP Pavilion 14-dv0598sa is currently available at its recommended retail price (RRP) of £549 at Currys. However, it is also available at a lower price from DealBuyer.com for £369.95, and a similar price on eBay. Based on the specifications and capabilities of the HP Pavilion 14-dv0598sa, we believe this is a great price for the laptop.
HP Pavilion 14-dv0598sa Laptop Review: Conclusion
Overall, the HP Pavilion 14-dv0598sa is a great laptop if you’re on a budget. It greatly balances price, performance, design and features and its slim and lightweight build makes it a portable mid-range laptop ideal for both the home and office. With that being said, the HP Pavilion 14-dv0598sa does lack slightly in regards to its battery life. Whilst up to 9 hours battery charge is not terrible, it can drain much faster if you have the brightness up high or if you are running multiple applications at once.
