Netflix Review
Founded in 1997 by Marc Randolph and Reed Hastings, Netflix began as a DVD-by-mail service and rapidly grew in the 2000s and eventually introduced on-demand streaming in 2007. As of Q3 2022, Netflix has over 223 million paid subscribers. A large contributing factor to Netflix’s level of success is its production of Netflix Originals.
Netflix Review: What are Netflix Originals?
Netflix Originals are exclusive TV shows, movies, and documentaries that are produced and distributed by Netflix. These are not available anywhere else besides Netflix. Netflix Originals have become a major part of Netflix’s success and are a staple of and an indicator of the highest quality programming on the platform.
Netflix Originals accommodate to everyone’s liking. Netflix is consistently funding the production of hundreds, if not thousands, of vastly different Netflix Originals: English or non-English, series or movie, horror or comedy, anime or documentary. As a matter of fact, Netflix has over 27,000 genre categories, so there’s definitely something for everyone. If you’re new to Netflix, or you’re thinking about joining, we recommended starting with these Netflix Original TV Shows:
- Stranger Things (Sci-Fi horror)
- Wednesday (Comedy horror)
- All of Us Are Dead (Horror Korean drama)
- Sex Education (Comedy)
- Squid Game (Survival Korean drama)

Netflix Review: User experience
Netflix is available to watch on your phone, tablet, computer, laptop, smart TV, PlayStation, Xbox, Chromecast, Apple TV, Blu-ray players and more. Once you join Netflix, you can stream all of the available content an unlimited number of times. However, it is worth noting that some shows and movies come and go from the platform, and availability varies regionally. For example, more Christmas movies will be added to Netflix during the Christmas period.
The Netflix app and across all available platforms, as well as in browser, has great user interface and is very user friendly. The controls and navigation is great throughout the whole app and browser.
The Netflix app, which is available on a variety of platforms such as the App Store and Google Play Store, has an intuitive and user-friendly interface. The controls and navigation are easy to use across the app and in the browser.
Netflix also allows you to download content to watch without an internet connection, which is especially convenient when travelling or in an area of poor internet connectivity. Moreover, by downloading your favourite shows and movies, it can help you save data on your phone plan, reduce buffering, and improve the overall viewing experience.
With that being said, one feature that you may find frustrating is that Netflix blocks screenshots of what you’re watching. Whilst it’s understandable, this can be quite annoying if you just want to take a quick screenshot to show your friends what you’re watching.

Netflix Review: What can you watch?
Netflix offers a huge selection of TV shows and movies in every country that Netflix operates, with thousands of titles to choose from. Below is a table listing the number of available titles in select countries, accurate as of December 2022. Netflix is always adding new movies and TV shows, so these numbers are likely to fluctuate.
Netflix have also introduced games to their platform, inspired by some of their most popular movies and TV shows. These games haven’t received much buzz, but they are targeted more towards children.

Did you know that you can use a VPN to change your location and access movies and TV shows available in other regions? It may sound like it would be difficult and complicated, but it’s actually very simple and easy to do. We’re reviewed some of the best VPNs currently available, so be sure to check out our NordVPN review, ExpressVPN review, and our VyprVPN review. All of these will allow you to access different Netflix movies and TV shows in different countries.
Netflix Review: Pricing
Netflix currently offer four different plans, ranging from £4.99 to £15.99. To truly get the most out of Netflix, we wouldn’t recommend the Basic or Basic with adverts plan, as they only provide 720p resolution. This leaves two plans, Standard and Premium. There’s a £5 difference between these plans and the only difference is going from 1080p to 4K resolution. Based on this, we only recommend the Premium plan if you have devices capable of supporting 4K video. If your devices don’t support 4K resolution, there’s no point choosing the 4K plan and will save a lot of money if you choose the Standard plan.
It’s also worth noting that Netflix state that only people who live with you may use your account. You can watch on 4 different devices at the same time with Premium, 2 with Standard and 1 with Basic or Basic with adverts.

Netflix Review: Conclusion
Netflix is the industry-leading video streaming service with over 220 million paid subscribers, and it’s no surprise. Netflix offer thousands of movies and TV shows in every region it operates, and has further produced some of the greatest titles in recent years as part of its Netflix Originals collection – all exclusive to Netflix. With a library as big as Netflix and with over 27,000 genres, there really is something for everyone. Whilst the most popular “Standard” plan is a little expensive, Netflix remains the top choice for streaming content.
